CONVERTOR E1

Pitch tracking, expandable oscillator alongside a studio preamp.

The ConVertor E1 merges the pro-studio into the Eurorack modular synth. Translating the natural nuances of an audio signal to analog and digital synthesizers, accurately, in an ultra-compact but expandable module. Developed from the ground up, the ConVertor E1 packs an enormous amount of features compared to its size. With a professional preamp, internal VCO, VCA, attenuvertor, analog compressor, CV compressor/expander, quantizer, DCO, auto-gain, and multiple expansion options both in software and hardware.

With a 3rd generation technology, the ConVertor E1 is capable of detecting the pitch of the audio and synthesize a choice of four waveforms (presets) as well as extracting the pitch CV, envelope CV, and gate CV signals as accurately as possible today. Built for efficiency and stability. The intuitive interface makes controlling its plentiful functions easy. Functions that would have taken additional 7-12 external modules are now offered at a touch of a button. It offers saved/recalled from presets for a "plug and play" live performance/during expensive studio sessions where time is of the essence. An expansion MIDVerotr E1 can add MIDI output sustain pedal input, arpeggiator to MIDI and back to ConVertors, centralized control for groups of ConVertors and more all via a high-speed, bi-directional 4-pin header connection we call the "Sonicsmith bus".

The ConVertor E1’s preamp audio input can receive a balanced/unbalanced audio signal at line level, instrument level, or dynamic microphones with a clean preamp featuring a unique auto-gain of +50db range to accommodate all types of audio sources. Pitch tracking evolved to become so accurate that no filter is needed, no matter the source material or its frequency range. The ENV now has a compressor and attenuator/attenuverter. There are also separate ENV CV compressor/expanders and attenuverter/attenuater to each internal CV destination like the VCA and CV out. The FM input also has its own quantizer, and attenuverter. 6 Character LED meter reflects the input level of the audio input or menu choices periodically. VCO mode will separate the preamp from the oscillator leaving it completely independent while still providing the ENV CV out. In VCO mode the oscillator will be controlled only from incoming 1V/oct CV input.

Download below, the 2-page User Guide that shows you the functions and how to use the ConVertor E1. The ConVertor E1 can play either true-sine, triangle, square or sawtooth waves from its SYNTH output. The P-SHIFT knob is an inf. an encoder that shifts the relative pitch of the internal oscillator and the pitch CV output within a 5-octave range in semi-tones. The FM CV input can accept external CV sources to shift the pitch of the oscillator as well but can do so continuously or quantized to musical scales. With internal VCA, VCF, quantizer, attenuverters, LFO's, routing, and different modes of operation, the ConVertor E1 offers presets to keep the show going smoothly.

Features:

  • Audio / CV controlled oscillator with MIDI option
  • Most accurate, rapid pitch tracking to date
  • Pitch CV, ENV CV, Gate CV and synth audio outputs
  • Preamp with +50 dB auto-gain, Hi Z sw. (2M Ohm), HPF (25Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz), analog gain-compression
  • 1V/oct FM input with dedicated quantizer and attenuverter
  • Digital 4-pin connection to a MIDVertor E1 to enable MIDI in/out, sustain pedal, arpeggiation, and sync expansion option
  • True-sine, triangle, square, and sawtooth selectable waveforms
  • 2:1 / 3:1 / 4:1 analog gain-compression while in VCO mode
  • 1:2 / 2:1 / 3:1 / 4:1 / 6:1 / 8:1, 32bit, ENV CV compression/expansion & attenuverter for each destination
  • Polyphonic operation option with multiple units connected to one expansion MIDVertor E1 mainframe

Some features expected with the future firmware 1.0 in the 2nd quarter of 2022

How much is my shipping?

Shipping is automatically calculated before you submit your payment information. Simply add items to your cart and proceed to the checkout page, where you'll be offered shipping options and their prices. In the UK it's normally around £4 for order values under £150, and free above that. Shipping to mainland EU is typically between £7 and £20, depending on the shipping method and the size and weight of the order.

Do you ship to my country?

Almost certainly - the site will give you an estimate of shipping costs if you add an item to the cart and then enter your country and postcode. If you have specific requirements (such as if you prefer UPS over FedEx, for example) then let us know in advance and we'll try to work something out for you.

Shipping methods

We use a combination of Parcelforce, DPD, Royal Mail and UPS for the UK, and for international orders it's either Royal Mail, UPS, DHL or FedEx depending on where you are in the world. If you have a particular preference then try to let us know BEFORE you order so we can look into it for you. Please note that there may occasionally be additional shipping charges if you live in a remote area, depending on what surcharges are applied by the shipper. We'll get in touch to discuss this with you in such cases.

Dispatch times

For UK orders, we normally dispatch the same working day if we get the order before 15:00. If you have a really urgent situation then of course drop us an email before ordering and we'll always do our absolute best to accommodate you.

For international orders, we normally dispatch the same day if we get the order before 13:00 but again, occasionally it might be the next day before we can send it out, and sometimes FedEx or UPS may come a little earlier than scheduled which would also push an order into the next day.

Shipping times

Since April 2020 the couriers we use have suspended guarantees for shipping times, so even though we're paying them for priority services - 24-48 hours for most of the world - in practice it's often an extra day on top and sometimes it can be longer.

There is absolutely nothing we can do about this unfortunately. If you are outside the UK and it's a life-or-death situation where you absolutely MUST have that passive mult for the next day then... it may be better to find a local supplier.

Saturday shipping

If you're in the UK and you order before 15:30 on a Friday then we can send something for a Saturday delivery (NB: this applies to UK mainland addresses only). The success rate with DPD is about 95% so it's worth a punt most of the time. Please note that if you select Saturday shipping on an order placed earlier in the week, we'll wait until Friday to ship it.

Pre-orders

If a product is listed as a pre-order, it means we've ordered it from the supplier but it's not physically in stock yet. The product listing will include an estimated shipping date based on the best information we have from the supplier, but do bear in mind this is subject to change and is not a guaranteed date.

If you place an order containing a mixture of in-stock and pre-order items, we'll normally hold off on shipping anything until the pre-order item(s) have arrived, rather than splitting it into multiple shipments. If you need the in-stock items sooner, we'd recommend placing separate orders. As always, please get in touch if you have questions.
