The book explores semi-modular synthesis and features more than 25 new exclusive interviews with Pete Townshend, Jean-Michel Jarre, Richard Devine and more.

The NTS-2 kit and book were conceived and developed to complement each other, providing not only a fascinating insight into synth usage and history, but also the tools to guide and inspire synth lovers at any stage of their musical journey.

The Nu:Tekt NTS-2 is a DIY “Swiss army knife” for musicians. Building on a 4-channel oscilloscope, it includes a flexible waveform generator, spectrum analyser, and tuner functions that make it the ideal addition to any studio.

Patch & Tweak with Korg is the latest title in the “Patch & Tweak” series from Bjooks. It’s a fascinating guide to semi-modular synthesis and the music it has inspired. With a focus on the MS-20 Mini, Volca Modular, reimagined ARP 2600 M, and the SQ-1 and SQ-64 sequencers, it features dozens of tutorials, tips, and tricks covering everything from synth basics to advanced sound design. A must-have for synth enthusiasts, it includes interviews with legendary and emerging artists, insights from Korg and ARP engineers, and detailed timelines of Korg synthesizers and ARP’s legendary keyboards.

NTS-2

NTS-2 is an oscilloscope, tuner, FFT and spectrum analyser that is accurate, intuitive, and incredibly useful. It comes in kit form and can be easily built with no soldering, usually taking no more than 10 minutes! NTS-2 can be easily connected into your synth rig using the dual stereo IN, dual stereo THRU/OUT, and two separate OUTPUTs – then you can use its dual waveform generators to give yourself an extra pair of oscillators or LFOs!

The oscilloscope, a tool for visualizing signals and voltages, has been around for many years. As scientific instruments, they might not seem like something a musician could easily use – but not anymore. NTS-2’s interface is simple, clean, and easy to use - rather than twiddling knobs and trying to understand obscure parameters, you can look at your signals and understand them in seconds. That way, your artistic focus can remain where it belongs: on making music.

A music toolkit
The NTS-2 includes a variety of useful studio functions, all in a pocket-sized, elegant package that you can take anywhere.

4-channel oscilloscope

With dual stereo inputs, you can study up to four signals at once, comparing and overlapping them with ease. A variety of display modes let you see your data in colour. Its user interface is clear and quick, thanks to dedicated menu buttons and clickable encoder knob.

FFT/Spectrum analyser

NTS-2 comes with a dedicated FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) mode with a real-time spectrum analyser. These handy tools have always been out of reach for the synth musician - they either required expensive hardware or a computer nearby. Now you can carry them in your pocket!

Dual waveform generator

A flexible Wave Generator mode makes NTS-2 much more than an oscilloscope. It has two oscillators with dedicated outputs. Each oscillator can create a variety of waveforms – sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, pulse, and noise – whose shape and phase can be adjusted to suit many applications.

These sounds can be used in the audio range or as control voltage sources, and they can be set to cycle continuously or act as one-shot impulses; that means you can turn them into LFOs, envelopes, triggers, and control voltage generators, as well as sound sources. Attaching the NTS-2 to any patchable synthesizer instantly expands its power in useful ways, making it an analogue synth player’s dream tool.

Tuner

NTS-2 wouldn’t be complete without a precise and easy-to-use Tuner with multiple display modes!

Nu:Tekt DIY fun
As with other Nu:Tekt products, the NTS-2 is a DIY kit that is extremely easy and quick to assemble. When you open the bundle, you’ll find a set of transparent side panels letting it stand up at one of two different mounting angles for easy use in any studio or stage rig. For maximum portability and flexibility, NTS-2 can be powered by batteries or a USB-C power supply, depending on your needs.

How much is my shipping?

Shipping is automatically calculated before you submit your payment information. Simply add items to your cart and proceed to the checkout page, where you'll be offered shipping options and their prices. In the UK it's normally around £4 for order values under £150, and free above that. Shipping to mainland EU is typically between £7 and £20, depending on the shipping method and the size and weight of the order.

Do you ship to my country?

Almost certainly - the site will give you an estimate of shipping costs if you add an item to the cart and then enter your country and postcode. If you have specific requirements (such as if you prefer UPS over FedEx, for example) then let us know in advance and we'll try to work something out for you.

Shipping methods

We use a combination of Parcelforce, DPD, Royal Mail and UPS for the UK, and for international orders it's either Royal Mail, UPS, DHL or FedEx depending on where you are in the world. If you have a particular preference then try to let us know BEFORE you order so we can look into it for you. Please note that there may occasionally be additional shipping charges if you live in a remote area, depending on what surcharges are applied by the shipper. We'll get in touch to discuss this with you in such cases.

Dispatch times

For UK orders, we normally dispatch the same working day if we get the order before 15:00. If you have a really urgent situation then of course drop us an email before ordering and we'll always do our absolute best to accommodate you.

For international orders, we normally dispatch the same day if we get the order before 13:00 but again, occasionally it might be the next day before we can send it out, and sometimes FedEx or UPS may come a little earlier than scheduled which would also push an order into the next day.

Shipping times

Since April 2020 the couriers we use have suspended guarantees for shipping times, so even though we're paying them for priority services - 24-48 hours for most of the world - in practice it's often an extra day on top and sometimes it can be longer.

There is absolutely nothing we can do about this unfortunately. If you are outside the UK and it's a life-or-death situation where you absolutely MUST have that passive mult for the next day then... it may be better to find a local supplier.

Saturday shipping

If you're in the UK and you order before 15:30 on a Friday then we can send something for a Saturday delivery (NB: this applies to UK mainland addresses only). The success rate with DPD is about 95% so it's worth a punt most of the time. Please note that if you select Saturday shipping on an order placed earlier in the week, we'll wait until Friday to ship it.

Pre-orders

If a product is listed as a pre-order, it means we've ordered it from the supplier but it's not physically in stock yet. The product listing will include an estimated shipping date based on the best information we have from the supplier, but do bear in mind this is subject to change and is not a guaranteed date.

If you place an order containing a mixture of in-stock and pre-order items, we'll normally hold off on shipping anything until the pre-order item(s) have arrived, rather than splitting it into multiple shipments. If you need the in-stock items sooner, we'd recommend placing separate orders. As always, please get in touch if you have questions.
