Full Description

Bi-amplified design for optimised audio performance

The Genelec 8040B features two powered amplifiers for optimised performance value. The bi-amplified design ensures optimal audio performance and fidelity, by assigning each of the two frequency bands with their own individual amplifier. This helps to optimise the audio fidelity and performance, ensuring you hear every nuance of the audio as it was intended. The amplifiers are designed to power both the woofer and tweeter individually.

Ideal for mixing and mastering - hear every detail

The exceptional audio quality and wide frequency range ensures you hear every nuance of the original audio as it was intended, this is paramount when it comes to mixing and mastering as you are able to hear every subtlety that other studio monitors may miss. The bi-amplified design is designed to optimise each of the driver with their individual power amplifiers on the tweeter and woofer. This ensures maximum audio fidelity and performance value.

The included Iso-Pod base helps to decouple the speaker form its mounting surface, minimising colourations caused by vibrations and reflections. Additionally on the rear of the monitor is a 'Tone Control' function which allows you optimise the speaker's sound to match the space and environment you are using the speaker in, optimising audio quality and performance.

ISS circuitry

ICC (Intelligent Signal Sensing) Technology was developed by Genelec in early 2013, designed to track the signal input of the loudspeaker and detect if it is in use. If the ISS circuitry finds that the speaker is not in use for a certain period of time it will automatically switch to a low-power sleep state, consuming less than 0.5 watts. This is highly useful when it comes to studios and home studios as it minimises power usage while optimising performance value.

The loudspeaker will immediately turn itself back on again once it detects an input signal, saving you power and money in the long run. If you wish to disable this feature you can simply turn on the 'ISS Disable' switch located on the rear panel of the monitor.

Versatile mounting options

The most versatile feature of the 8040B is the wide range of mounting options, allowing you to place the monitor virtually anywhere. The 3/8’’ threaded hole on the base allows you attach to a range of speaker stands, plus the threaded holes are ideal for mounting to omnimount brackets. This lets you place the monitors in the optimal positioning ensuring maximum stability and audio performance. The included Iso-Pod table can also be attached to the base or side of the monitor for vertical and horizontal positioning.

Sleek, rugged construction with versatile connectivity

The Genelec 8040B features a range of design and construction aspects that helps to achieve the optimal audio quality and sleek aesthetic the Genelec 8040Bs produce. One of the most unique design aspects of the studio monitors is the advanced reflex port design which helps to extend the low frequency response for added depth in the lower range. This is ideal for mixing and mastering applications as it gives you more of a feel for the bottom end, allowing you to hear the subtle nuances of the lower range. The monitor’s enclosure utilises MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) technology for uncoloured sound reproduction.

The curved cabinet surface is designed to maximise the internal volume for improved low frequency efficiency as well as providing EMC shielding and excellent heat sink for the amplifiers. The Genelec 8040B also features a range of digital and analog connectivity for optimal flexibility. Connect the speakers to a range of external devices including mixers and more using the XLR female analog input. Also included are a XLR AES/EBU digital Input and a XLR AES/EBU Digital Thru Connector allowing you to connect the monitors to a range of external digital devices.

How much is my shipping?

Shipping is automatically calculated before you submit your payment information. Simply add items to your cart and proceed to the checkout page, where you'll be offered shipping options and their prices. In the UK it's normally around £4 for order values under £150, and free above that. Shipping to mainland EU is typically between £7 and £20, depending on the shipping method and the size and weight of the order.

Do you ship to my country?

Almost certainly - the site will give you an estimate of shipping costs if you add an item to the cart and then enter your country and postcode. If you have specific requirements (such as if you prefer UPS over FedEx, for example) then let us know in advance and we'll try to work something out for you.

Shipping methods

We use a combination of Parcelforce, DPD, Royal Mail and UPS for the UK, and for international orders it's either Royal Mail, UPS, DHL or FedEx depending on where you are in the world. If you have a particular preference then try to let us know BEFORE you order so we can look into it for you. Please note that there may occasionally be additional shipping charges if you live in a remote area, depending on what surcharges are applied by the shipper. We'll get in touch to discuss this with you in such cases.

Dispatch times

For UK orders, we normally dispatch the same working day if we get the order before 15:00. If you have a really urgent situation then of course drop us an email before ordering and we'll always do our absolute best to accommodate you.

For international orders, we normally dispatch the same day if we get the order before 13:00 but again, occasionally it might be the next day before we can send it out, and sometimes FedEx or UPS may come a little earlier than scheduled which would also push an order into the next day.

Shipping times

Since April 2020 the couriers we use have suspended guarantees for shipping times, so even though we're paying them for priority services - 24-48 hours for most of the world - in practice it's often an extra day on top and sometimes it can be longer.

There is absolutely nothing we can do about this unfortunately. If you are outside the UK and it's a life-or-death situation where you absolutely MUST have that passive mult for the next day then... it may be better to find a local supplier.

Saturday shipping

If you're in the UK and you order before 15:30 on a Friday then we can send something for a Saturday delivery (NB: this applies to UK mainland addresses only). The success rate with DPD is about 95% so it's worth a punt most of the time. Please note that if you select Saturday shipping on an order placed earlier in the week, we'll wait until Friday to ship it.

Pre-orders

If a product is listed as a pre-order, it means we've ordered it from the supplier but it's not physically in stock yet. The product listing will include an estimated shipping date based on the best information we have from the supplier, but do bear in mind this is subject to change and is not a guaranteed date.

If you place an order containing a mixture of in-stock and pre-order items, we'll normally hold off on shipping anything until the pre-order item(s) have arrived, rather than splitting it into multiple shipments. If you need the in-stock items sooner, we'd recommend placing separate orders. As always, please get in touch if you have questions.
