Roundup 8 November 2024 | Scrooge, Turismo, new Make Noise and more
A short and sweet intro this week! It’s been an, ahem, eventful week in politics, but we’ve got lots of great new gear to distract you from the impending collapse of Western civilisation. Read on for all the details, and read right to the end for details on our next in-store event with none other than ALM Busy Circuits.
Before we get into it, just a heads-up that we’ve restocked some in-demand bits like the Squarp Hapax, 4ms MetaModule and Tiptop/Buchla 259t and 296t. There are a few bargains to flag up, too: we’ve cut prices on various MOTU audio interfaces; you can still get a free deluxe softcase when you buy the Expressive-E Osmose; and our pre-owned and B-stock shelves are positively groaning under the weight of all the tasty gear. So tuck in!
Until next time,
Jason, Aleks, Kyle, Luke, Molly, Rob & Tom
Latest arrivals & pre-orders
The Neutral Labs Scrooge is already one of our fastest-selling new products of the year and we’ve barely had a chance to tell you about it yet! This filthy little box of percussive goodness comes from the brains behind the Elmyra 2 drone machine and it’s the perfect way to add some experimental drums to your setup. There are plenty of great demos out there already, including an awesome workout from Mylar Melodies. First run is nearly sold out so don’t delay if you want one from this batch.
The greatest hits of ALM in one svelte package! The Turismo system includes sequencing, sampling, analogue and digital synthesis, mixing and effects - everything you need to start making modular beats. Deep enough to keep you busy for years but immediate enough to get jamming quickly, this is a great case, especially for those of a techno/house persuasion. In stock and shipping now!
Complete Eurorack systems are like buses - you wait ages for one and then two come along at once! Also announced last week was Make Noise’s ReSynthesizer - a follow-up to the Shared System based around the Spectraphon, with Morphagene, Mimeophon and (double!) Maths present and correct too. Taking pre-orders now for delivery around the end of the month.
And talking of Make Noise, the long-awaited Bruxa is due to land any day now and we’ll have a handful left after shipping out the pre-orders.
The Sdkc Helical is a new one for us - a ‘16-voice polyphonic autoregressive algorithmic synthesiser’ in the form of a 16HP Eurorack module from Japan. The 16 voices each have a generative sequencer, wavetable oscillator, envelope generator and VCA - mind-boggling stuff! Check out the demo from Red Means Recording to hear what this little marvel can do.
Following our blog post about field recording last week (check it out if you missed it!) we’ve had a big delivery of portable recorders from Zoom. The latest models boast 32-bit float recording for the ultimate worry-free way to capture just about anything, and there’s something to suit every budget - from the H1 Essential with its built-in mics right up to the high-end F8N Pro.
