We’re back in sunny Glasgow after a busy weekend in London, and there’s no slowing down. Tonight we’re hosting an in-store event with Allan J Hall of AJH Synth fame, who will be talking us through the RadioPhonic modular system he built for Hans Zimmer. There might still be a ticket or two left if you’re quick.

Then tomorrow Molly’s off to Italy for Roma Modulare and next week Aleks is heading to SynthFest in Sheffield - both warm-ups for the big one, Machina Bristronica, where we’ll be arriving mob-handed along with a bunch of the brands we distribute. Come and say hi if you see us at any of these, it’s always great to chat!

A couple of other bits of news before we get on with the new arrivals - first up, there’s an amazing deal on the Expressive-e Osmose synth right now: a free softcase with every purchase. Firmware 2.0 is out now too, so it’s more powerful than ever. Check it out! Lastly, we’ve started listing some pre-owned items on the site so keep an eye out for more bargains over the coming weeks. And if you want to trade in your old gear, get in touch.

Until next time,

Jason, Aleks, Kyle, Luke, Molly, Rob & Tom

Latest arrivals

The Arturia PolyBrute 12 finally landed just after we sent out the last mailout, and we still have a couple left. This really is the bee’s knees, a good old-fashioned head-turner of a synth that sounds immaculate and is pure joy to play. If you’re in the market for a premium analogue poly then this has to be near the top of your list.

Latvia-based Elta Music is a new brand to the store, and their  Solar 42F is one hell of a debut product. This “analogue microtonal ambient drone machine” boasts two melodic voices and six drone voices, plus all manner of modulation and control possibilities. Available in five colours, we have a couple available now with more to follow.

Grayscale are back with the Nexus, a brilliant evolution of Mutable Instruments’ discontinued Frames module. True to the spirit of open source, they’ve pushed things significantly forward with this Eurorack ‘keyframing’ module that lets you morph between settings of 12 VCAs in parallel for unrivalled patch control.

Curious about video synthesis but not sure where to start? The Sleepy Circits Hypno has you covered. Inspired by analogue video workflows, it offers shape generation, colorisation, feedback, looping MP4 playback and more, with Eurorack-compatible patch points and HDMI output.

Great news if you’ve every lusted after Folktek’s beautiful effects modules, pedals and electro-acoustic music machines - we’ve dropped the prices on the Alter and Garden ranges so they’re more affordable than ever before. A beautiful marriage of organic design and high-end DSP effects, they sound as great as they look.

New on the blog

Electronic musicians are always chasing the new - not surprising in a genre that’s inextricably linked with innovation and new technology. At the same time, we’re obsessed with vintage gear and its supposedly unique sound. But what about all the devices in the middle - neither brand new nor yet ‘classic’? In our latest blog, Luke explores the topic and selects a few gems from recent years that you shouldn’t forget about just yet…

And finally…

Thanks to everyone who came along to our pop-up at Next Door Records Two at the weekend - it was great chatting with so many of our wonderful customers old and new. We’ve got loads of ideas for how we can do events like these in the future, so watch this space!
