Greetings from Signal Sounds HQ

Things are ticking over nicely here following the frenzy of Superbooth, and there’s certainly no let-up with the new arrivals. We’ve picked out some of the highlights of the past fortnight below.

Heads up: the first shipment of Delia polysynths from Melbourne Instruments should be leaving the factory soon, and we still have a few of this first batch available to pre-order if you're quick. Unique motorised knobs and a glorious hybrid analogue/digital sound engine, all wrapped up in an eye-catching retrofuturist design - what’s not to like?

Plus if you’re in the market for a high-quality analogue front-end for your studio we’ve got a BiG SiXy deal for you: buy the SSL BiG SiX desktop mixer/audio interface this month and you’ll get an SSL Ultraviolet EQ 500 Series module (worth £379!) for free. Could be a great way to kick off that 500 Series outboard rack you’ve been dreaming about…

Until next time,

Jason, Aleks, Kyle, Luke, Molly, Rob & Tom

What's new?

What’s better than an analogue multimode filter? How about three analogue multimode filters in one module with digitally controlled morphing between three sets of parameters? Patching Panda’s Etna is one of the most powerful VCFs we’ve seen for a while - check out DivKid’s video to see what it’s capable of.

Hieroglyphic is a new brand and Plume is their first release - a beautiful-looking (and sounding) digital oscillator based around pulsar synthesis. It offers unique and complex tones with great stereo capabilities - again, take a look at DivKid’s video for an in-depth explanation of how it works and some tasty sound examples.

Make Noise’s classic collaboration with Tom Erbe of Soundhack, Erbe-Verb, is back for one last production run, this time with a black and gold panel. You know the drill by now - it’s a unique ‘modeless’ effect that lets you dial in both ‘traditional’ reverb types and hybrid, unreal spaces. It’s a classic for a reason!

Herbs & Stones are back with Arms, a two-voice percussion module that uses FM and ring modulation to conjure up a huge range of digital drum sounds. Another winner from our friends in Italy, and the perfect partner for the Legs kick drum module.

The Nu:Tekt NTS-1 mkii - the latest incarnation of Korg’s compact digital synth kit - has finally landed. Featuring a more powerful processor, new 18-key multitouch keyboard, 8-step sequencer and advanced MIDI capabilities, this tiny box packs a real punch. And don’t worry, it’s a piece of cake to put it together - no soldering required!

This one slipped out just before Superbooth - an ultra-limited new Adept Edition of Dreadbox’s Murmux 8-voice analogue desktop polysynth. It has a beautiful design that invites hands-on play, and a rich, timeless analogue sound. We still have a couple left, but once these are gone, they’re gone…

Restocks & pre-orders

We’ve just restocked lots of ALM Busy Circuits bits (including the new MFX Pedal and plenty more Cizzles), not to mention some chunky boxes from Doepfer and Schlappi Engineering. And we’ve taken delivery of a big batch of Oxi Ones - the ever-popular performance sequencer - and the Coral polyphonic Eurorack voice.

Pre-order-wise, a few more of the hits of Superbooth are now up on the site and available to reserve: namely the mega-multi-functional MetaModule from 4ms, the Body Synths Metal Fetishist drum synth, the Knobula Echo Cinematic effects module and Befaco’s drone monster, Oneiroi.

New on our YouTube channel

Ace sound designer and composer Michael Manning is back on the Signal Sounds channel with some smart tips for sequencing the Pulsar-23 - the modern classic ‘organismic’ drum machine from SOMA Laboratory. We’ve had a big restock of most colours and they’re available at a special price for a little while longer - in case Mick’s video inspires you to take the plunge…

And finally...

We know we bang on about him a lot, but our old pal Mylar Melodies is on a serious roll at the moment. The one-man content production powerhouse has dropped the latest edition of his Why We Bleep podcast featuring an in-depth chat with Manu from Befaco. Essential listening!
