We’re still catching our breath after our Black Friday sale - hope you managed to pick up a bargain! Just a heads-up that we’ve still got hefty discounts on a few products, with some offers running until the new year, so keep an eye on our Deals & Used section.

ALM sneaked out an absolutely killer module on Monday - the MkII version of their MCO wavetable oscillator. It boasts seven new digital synth engines in the same 6HP footprint as the original, with a big Pam’s-style colour screen to navigate it all. Our launch allocation flew out the door in a matter of hours, but we’ve opened up pre-orders for the next batch, which is due in January. Check out Tom’s video to see what all the fuss is about!

If you’re in Christmas shopping mode, don’t forget about our festive gift guide, which is full of ideas for what to get the synth-lover in your life. (Alternatively, feel free to share it with your loved ones so they don’t get you a commemorative Greg Wallace Masterchef Chef’s Apron instead of the Synthux Academy Touch 2 synth you really wanted!) From portable Theremins and ‘Bowie edition’ Stylophones to Blipblox myTracks kids’ samplers and Befaco Synth Dusters, there’s something for every age and budget.

Meanwhile, we’ve also had some chunky deliveries from ADDAC, Intellijel, Erica Synths, Befaco and Acid Rain recently, so take a look if you’ve been waiting for anything that’s been out of stock for a while. Lots of tasty new bits landed while the sale was happening, too - read on for all the juicy details!

Until next time,

Latest arrivals

Instruo have managed to sneak in another cheeky module release just before the end of the year: Gloc is a clock generator and processor that packs a hell of a lot of smart features into 4HP. Perfect as the master clock for a live case or for anyone looking for some organic timing action.

The latest sleek black 80s-looking module from RYK is the Envy Machine, a super-useful modulation source whose four channels can each be an AD or ADSR envelope, LFO, random voltage generator or a knob recorder - yep, you can record your twiddling and play it back for custom envelope shapes. Nice!

Joran does it again - Cycle 5 is a bulletproof workhorse analogue VCO with some smartly chosen extra features like precise factory tuning, a handy octave and fifth switches and dual V/oct inputs for easy transposing. It’s equally great as a modulation oscillator in a big rig or as the heart of a compact analogue system.

Majella’s Implexus is a desktop synth that sounds as good as it looks, combining elements of West Coast and East Coast synth design philosophy. Mylar Melodies put it through its paces recently and it blew us away. Check out Majella’s range Eurorack modules too for some classy and affordable basics.

A couple of killer new drum modules just dropped from our friends at Patching Panda. Blast is a kick drum voice that lives up to its name, while the Hatz hi-hat generator is now in its third incarnation and sounds better than ever. For powerful, flexible great-sounding analogue drums with loads of modulation and control, look no further!

New on our YouTube channel

It’s a double bill of YouTube action this month! First up is our good pal, ace sound designer and composer Michael Manning, who’s been exploring the Future Sound Systems Cric. This monster analogue desktop pin-matrix synth has blown away everyone who’s heard it. Now that it’s available to buy, take a look and see what all the fuss is about.

Next up, we gave the Synthux Academy Touch 2 to local YouTube sensation and friend of the store The Unperson recently, and he came up with a brilliant showcase for this unique instrument. With its touch-based interface and open-source firmware library, you can turn this thing into just about any sonic gadget you can imagine. Check it out!

And finally...

Glasgow’s premier live electronic music night Attack Release is back at Bloc on Wednesday 18th, and our very own Luke is performing at this one alongside The Shell and Sly Dig. Swing by and say hi if you’re in town - we can almost guarantee this will be more fun than your office Christmas party!
