Calling all budding algoravers! We’re back with another special in-store event on 27 June, and this time it’s something a little different. Our friends at Emute Lab Instruments are coming up to host a special workshop that’s an introduction to livecoding with modular synthesis.

Emute Lab Instruments is a project from the Experimental Music Technologies Lab at the University of Sussex, UK. They’re taking music technology research from their group and realising it in the form of hybrid digital/analogue musical instruments. Their first product, uSEQ, builds on over a decade of research in livecoding.

In the workshop, you’ll explore the features of the uSEQ module, and try out some basic sequencing, signal processing and performance techniques.  The workshop will give you the fundamental skills to explore livecoding techniques in the future. Full materials will be available from Emute’s website.

Please note: the workshop is free but limited to eight places. You will need to bring a computer that runs Chrome browser, and has a spare USB port to connect to the module (please bring a USB-A dongle if needed).

We’ll provide pizzas and drink from 7pm, with the workshop starting at 7.30pm. To reserve a spot, head over to Eventbrite.
